According to one definition, a “foodie” is: “…a person who has an ardent or refined interest in food and alcoholic beverages “ One who “seeks new food experiences as a hobby rather than simply eating out of convenience or hunger.”
Well, at one time or another, we all fit that definition! But we do want to remind you that October 16 to 21 is our annual Fall Harvest Week. So “foodies” and regular folks can enjoy four courses for $35, thanks to our yearlong sponsor, 1st Colonial Community Bank, and The Hughes Center for Aesthetic Medicine in Cherry Hill, sponsor of our Fall event.
Our chefs have pulled out all the stops by scouring local sources for vegetables, fruits, cheeses, meats and fish so that the creative menus you’ll find feature the freshest available ingredients, enlivened by the individual inventive touches found in each of our more than 40 independently owned and operated restaurants.
Let us give you a sneak preview of some of the mouth-watering menus you’ll find at our participating restaurants throughout South Jersey.
At Elements in Haddon Heights you have four choices for Course One, four more for the Second Course and five delicious entreés are offered for the Main Course. Vegetarians might choose White Bean Ravioli while meat eaters’ choices are Beef Short Ribs or Grilled Rack of Lamb. Its either Jumbo Lump Crab or Roasted Striped Bass for seafood buffs. You may choose as dessert either Pear and Blueberry Tart, Sweet Potato Cheesecake, Chocolate Truffle Cake or Apple Cinnamon Sorbet. Decisions, decisions!
As long as you are in the Haddon Heights neighborhood, you might also dine at Anthony’s where your Course One decisions are made difficult with such great starters as Pumpkin Ravioli and Provolone & Garlic Sausage, among others. In addition to a choice of three salads in Course Two there is also Rigatoni with Pork Ragu and Grilled Shrimp to consider. Course Three excites with such items as Grilled Pork Chop, Autumn Chicken, Roasted Lamb Rack and Veal Tenderloin Medallions. Seafood aficionados will look to the Roasted Sea Bass, Shrimp Romano or even Corn & Crab Ravioli. The delightful Chef’s Sampler Plate is the star of Course Four at Anthony’s.
For a dining change of pace, there is Elena Wu Restaurant and Sushi Bar in Voorhees. If you love crustaceans, you’ll love the Course One choices of Shrimp Butternut Bisque, Classic Shrimp Wonton Soup or Crispy Shrimp Dumplings. If you prefer a salad, Elena Wu offers Spicy Kani as an alternative. After you select from among four Asian inspired dishes for the Second Course, six choices await you in Course Three: Honey Walnut Shrimp, Orange Chicken or Beef, Seafood Supreme, Rack of Lamb, Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna and Mango Shrimp. For a finish there are Green Tea Ice Cream, Crème Brulee, Bomba (chocolate and vanilla gelato in a dark chocolate shell) and even Exotic Bomba which features mango, passion fruit and raspberry sorbetto covered in white chocolate. Wow!
At L’Oceano Ristorante in Collingswood the First Course includes such temptations as Butternut Squash Bisque and Salmon Tartare Brulee. Pasta is featured in Course Two and what follows are creative approaches to chicken, pork and seafood. Homemade Bread Pudding and Tiramisu are among the featured desserts. Sooo good!
