The temperature on the thermometer is set to creep higher and higher this week as the region braces for its first heat wave.
Consumer Reports offers several tips on how to beat the heat and to keep your kitchen cooler.
- Switch your lights off when you leave the kitchen.
- Replace incandescent bulbs with more energy-efficient bulbs that run cooler.
- Install a cool-running refrigerator.
- Downsize your cooking.

Why heat up the kitchen by turning on your oven or clicking on the stove when you can relax in an air-conditioned restaurant where the only difficult decision you’ll have to make: What should I have for dinner?
