“You have to be burning with an idea, or a problem, or a wrong that you want to right. If you’re not passionate enough from the start, you’ll never stick it out.” – Steve Jobs
Restaurant week is just 4 days away, and we are so excited for you to try our amazing appetizers, entrees and desserts coupled with some of the best drinks you’ve had this side of the globe!
Our founding member, Anthony was recently interviewed about the 10 year anniversary of SJ HotChefs, you can read the full interview here!
When we started SJ, it was based off a deep conviction that people deserve good, locally sourced food right where they are. Live Local is now a common saying, and we are so proud of that.
We are thankful that some of the best restaurants period, are members of SJ.
One of our favorite parts of restaurant week, is creating a menu together, that we get to share with so many people.
The amount of passion and creativity that goes into creating dishes from locally sourced food is breathe-taking. Before that meal ever hits your table, there are so many factors that happen to make it great, not just for you, but for everyone that will try it.
“The Italians and Spanish, the Chinese and Vietnamese see food as part of a larger, more essential and pleasurable part of daily life. Not as an experience to be collected or bragged about – or as a ritual like filling up a car – but as something else that gives pleasure, like sex or music, or a good nap in the afternoon. – Anthony Bourdain
We love this quote, because food is a way of life to us at SJ, not just a hobby.
“Food is should be just as important as a new car, or a home.”
We talk a lot about fast food america, and how it’s destroying small business and locally sourced products, but even more so, it’s destroying culture.
In a recent Ted Talk, Jennifer 8. Lee explains many misconceptions about where food comes from, and how our culture understands less and less about the traditions that make food so invaluable.
The whole motto, farm to table, is about the people surrounding it, and the history of the food you are eating.
We hope that as restaurant week approaches, you will join us at one of our amazing restaurants, we hope equally, that you will start to fall in love with the culture, history, and beauty of food all over again.
Great minds challenge the way people view the world, and it’s often earth shattering to have your eyes opened on a topic you thought you knew.
Food is no exception.
We encourage you to start looking into where your food comes from, the history and origins of it, and get to know the people that make it.
We couldn’t think of a better place, then coming to one of our incredible member restaurants.
Last year, we wrote an incredibly personal article about living locally, that you can read HERE as well.
“Thankfully, there is still a significant segment of the American public that appreciates what we do and understands the concept of expertly prepared, fresh food. We view dining out as an adventure and a unique and pleasurable experience.” – Anthony Iannone
Food is just that, an adventure. Think about the first time you fell in love, that euphoric feeling you had, the goosebumps trailing up your arm, and the unquenchable butterflies in your stomach.
At some point and time, you went out on dates, shared meals together, and created a life. We hope, deep down that our restaurants have the same effect on people.
That they give life, and add adventure to our guest’s and their families.
Life is short, there are only so many seconds, hours and years that we get to spend creating legacies and seeing the world through our distinct eyes.
We hope that you would join us, for restaurant week, we hope that you would celebrate your birthdays, anniversaries, successes and even losses at all of our member restaurants.
South Jersey is home, and we want you to know that when you join us at all of our member restaurants, you’re family too.
We are looking forward to seeing you all next week, and may you have many more adventures enjoying the best curated meals we have ever created.
