Duffield’s Farm Market has confirmed it.
The crops are ready to be harvested – sweet corn, Jersey fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, squash and….peaches.
Duffield’s Farm Market said the crops are looking good.
They are also ready to welcome the volunteers who will be helping the SJ Hot Chefs harvest all the farm fresh fruits and veggies that will be chopped, sliced, diced, boiled, blanched, fried and sautéed for the quickly approaching Farm to Fork Week.
Despite the lingering cold temperatures from this past winter, the crops are a little bit late in ripening as compared to last year, but that is rapidly changing. There will soon be an overflowing bounty of produce that will be ready for picking in just a few days.
This is the first year that that the public has been invited to Duffield’s Farm Market on Wednesday, July 16 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm to help pick the locally grown produce that will be used in specially designed menus for the upcoming Farm to Fork week.
Farm to Fork Week is an annual event that takes place from July 20-July 26 and features 45 eateries offering four-course summer-themed meals for $35, and some restaurants offering three courses for $25.
This year, Duffield’s produce will be prominently featured in the entrees.
If you haven’t entered your child in the SJ Hot Chefs’ “Littlest Chef” contest, deadline for that closes on July 15.
One “Littlest Chef” will receive a $100 gift card with the winning dish featured at one of the restaurants during Farm to Fork week.
Head on over to our Facebook page for more details on the “Littlest Chef Contest” that ends tomorrow.
